The Safest Places in the World to Travel to

Travelling to new places comes with excitement and adventure as every country is different. Experiencing new cultures and seeing the sights is all well and good but one important factor is safety. There are risks in every country and some are, unfortunately, worse than others but the following five places are some of the safest places to visit in the world.

mount fiji, japan

Japan

Japan is known for its stunning temples and hectic cities that are brought to life with bustling people and neon lights. Japan is a varied place and on one hand it can be extremely busy and on the other it can be completely peaceful. Head to Harijuku district of Toky to see the whacky people dressed up in fun costumes or why not head to Miyajima. The island is just a short hop on the ferry from Hiroshima and it is a place of serenity, with amazing views from the mountains and wild deer roaming the island, even in the towns. Japanese people are some of the friendliest in the world. To westerners they often seem too polite but in fact Japan boasts extremely low levels of crime and its strict gun laws act as a real deterrent. When compared to the western world, armed robberies are pretty much non-existent.

Sweden

Sweden is one of the safest places in the world and cities such as Gothenburg and Stockholm are extremely popular with tourists who are looking for trendy bars, restaurants and beautiful architecture. The country has a lot to offer with excellent winter breaks where Lapland can be experienced by snowmobile whilst in summer building a raft and gliding down the Klaralven river is the perfect way to take in the surroundings. Sweden is up there as a safe place to visit thanks to the respect it shows for human rights, levels of violent crime are low and the people are extremely friendly.

norway

Norway

Norway is known for its beautiful landscape, with amazing mountain fjords and small fishing villages, and it is now a wealthy country that is prosperous and safe. There is lots to see and do in Norway and for those who like to explore there is the Svalbard Express which takes passengers to the Arctic Circle to look for polar bears and whales whilst taking in the breathtaking glaciers.

For those who like ancient churches then Norway has some beautiful stave churches with the largest being Heddal stave church, ornate carvings and amazing paintings are just a few of the things on offer there.  In the same way as Sweden, Norway also shows a high level of respect for human rights and freedom as well as a tolerance for religion and different cultures, there are also low levels of crime. Despite Norway playing a part in the war in Afghanistan, it is still considered a low risk when it comes to a terrorist attack.

Canada

Canada

Canada is a stunning country that is vast but it also offers lots of things to do and see. The most obvious being Niagara falls. The mix of power and beauty cannot be ignored and the visit can be rounded off with a boat trip.

For those who like the feel of the city then Toronto can offer the CN tower and a quick trip to the top can offer superb views during the day or night. The Canadian government and authorities work hard to make it one of the safest places to visit in the world. Over 80% of the population live in the cities and as a nation of immigrants the government ensures that that a policy of multiculturalism is followed and those who live there are actively encouraged to follow their traditional values. They too believe in human rights and their levels of tolerance are extremely high. Levels of violent crime and robberies are also low.

Slovenia

It may be a surprise to see Slovenia in the list but the country has done well to integrate themselves into the world following the fall of Communism and the Yugoslav Civil War. The country offers real beauty, situated between Italy, Croatia, Austria and Hungary it has rolling mountains and stunning countryside. As well as this it has plenty of castles on offer such as the Ljubljana castle with its structure built on land following an earthquake.

Those who like something a little different then Skocjan caves give access to tunnels filled with stalactites and stalagmites and a prehistoric settlement that was found recently. It is a country that is great for tourism in many ways and safety is one of the things it can really boast with low levels of violent crime and a low risk of being attacked.
